GUR DUR DIED
Abdurrahman Wahid, the Former president of Indonesia died. Abdurrahman Wahid, who was also known as Gus Dur, was 69 years old at the time of his death. According to sources, the former Indonesian president died on Wednesday evening at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Jakarta. The actual cause of his death is still not known. According to sources, Abdurrahman Wahid “Gus Dur” was hospitalized for a number of times due to health problems.
According to news agency Antara, they quoted Sulaeman, the private secretary of the late Abdurrahman Wahid, saying that his health conditions were not normal and he was hospitalized. He also told the agency that Gus Dur was visited by all his family members and also his close friends. According to sources, the leaders of the Nahdatul Ulama organization also visited him at the hospital.
According to sources, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was also among those who visited Gus Dur at the hospital. The sources said that President Susilo went there at about 6.30pm and Gus Dur reportedly died at about 6.45pm. In his last time, Abdurrahman Wahid “Gus Dur” was also visited by Indonesian cabinet ministers.
The body of the late president was taken to his residence in Ciganjur, South Jakarta; from the hospital at about 10pm. Gus Dur was survived by Sinta Nuriyah, his widow and his four daughters.
